Mark Wilson

Council Member Mark Wilson (2012 – present)

Born April 12,1941, in Somerset, PA, Mark Wilson was one of four children born to William and Grace Wilson. His father worked for B&O Railroad and his mother was a part time seamstress for local department store. Raised in Johnstown, PA and attended public schools. After graduation, Wilson worked two years in an auto parts store until joining the U. S. Air Force in January of 1961. Trained and licensed by FAA as a military air traffic controller, Wilson’s 26-year military career saw him stationed in this capacity in Florida, Ohio, Greenland, South Carolina, Vietnam, Germany, Turkey, England, Greece and Italy. While in the military, he attended Senior NCO Academies, Community College of the Air Force, and the University of Maryland European Campus. He served as Chief Controller of several air traffic control towers. Wilson retired in July, 1986 and went to work for the FAA in the air traffic control field, working at Norfolk International Airport until retirement in May 2005. During the course of his FAA career, Wilson served as National President of the National Association of Government Employees and represented over 800 federal employees in the FAA. Wilson and his wife, Jane wed on September 9, 1961. She enjoyed a 42-year career as a registered nurse. After Mark’s retirement, the Wilson’s moved to the Archer Lodge area, where two of their three daughters live. They also have six grandchildren. They attend Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Clayton. Wilson has also been an Archer Lodge Precinct Election Judge, worked as an incorporation volunteer and serves the Council as representative to the Planning Board, where he also served two years.
