Council Member James L. (Jim) Purvis, III (2020 - present)
Jim Purvis serves the Town of Archer Lodge as a Town Council Member. He formerly served as a Member on the Planning Board/Board of Adjustment from 2014 – 2019 and served as Vice Chair from 2017 - 2019. He has lived in Archer Lodge since 1999. He and his wife Teresa have four children and five grandchildren. Purvis served in the US Navy from 1969 – 1972 and is a member of the Archer Lodge Veterans Committee.
Purvis enjoys gardening as a hobby and has been the Archer Lodge Community Center building manager for several years. He is a Deacon in the Free Episcopal Church and serves as a volunteer Chaplain at Central Prison, Raleigh, NC. His duties as Chaplain include rotation of weekly services, bible study, and assists with three-day seminars in both General Population and Death Row. He has served as Chairman of Community Resource Council (CRC), collaborating with staff at Central Prison and is currently Treasure.
