Information on Widening of Covered Bridge Road: 

• NCDOT plans to widen Covered Bridge Road to three lanes from just west of Helena Lane to east of Buffalo Road
• This project will add several turn lanes and realign South Murphrey Road to meet Archer Lodge Road
• It is expected that NCDOT will request bids for this project in the Spring of 2026

Information on Crosswalk Installation:

• Awarded the NCDOT Pedestrian Safety Grant
• Funded through Federal Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) and administered through NCDOT
• Beginning construction in the coming months
• The Town will communicate with residents concerning the project once they learn of the timeline
• Curb ramps and crosswalk markings will be installed at the area across from Archer Lodge Road from the community center to the church
• Will include ramps and tactile paving which will be in full compliance with ADA

Street Lights:

• In March 2012, Duke Energy Progress finished installing 27 street lights throughout the center of Town
• These lights help to illuminate dark intersections in Town
